Long Bio

Joshua Espinosa is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist based in Minneapolis, MN. He plays an Americana style rooted in bar room blues, flatpicker bluegrass, 70s rock and 90s alternative. Kind of like if the Counting Crows guy played guitar using Billy Strings and Stevie Ray Vaughan techniques all at once.

Originally from Los Angeles, he got his start bouncing around the fringes of the SoCal, Bay Area and Twin Cities music scenes as a singer/songwriter, band leader and side man, but finally found footing when he started working on an album with producer Kevin Bowe, an acclaimed songwriter who wrote songs for three platinum records and two Grammy winning albums.

Together, they created Joshua’s debut album, Americaña, a collection of songs that reflects an interpretation of Americana music from someone who constantly wonders about what’s included in the genre when people talk about it, and also – perhaps more importantly – what’s excluded.

Joshua plays 10 instruments, including the violin, mandolin and bass, and gigs regularly as a solo act or with his band The Gut Buckets, a six-piece group that plays toward the rowdier underbelly of the Americana genre.
